changing request_uri to path_info

Subject: changing request_uri to path_info

I can change REQUEST_URI to PATH_INFO, but that would mean changing 
all the urls on the site, except the homepage. If there exist sites 
around the world that are directly linking into the website, these 
links would break.

Should I go ahead with the change?
