It is not suboptimal. It is bad.
Of course using PATH_INFO instead of REQUEST_URI might make it a bit
harder to setup the whole thing in one directory.

Here is where splitting the yapcom and yapc_il_2004 is important.
Yapcom as it is does not really need any external file, only the templates
which do not need to be accessible by the browser.

So how would you solve the issue ?
